Minespider, a Berlin, Germany-based traceability software provider for battery and mineral supply chains, has launched Recircle.market, a digital marketplace designed to connect companies across the value chain of electric vehicle (EV) battery reuse, repair, refurbishment and recycling.
The marketplace addresses large-scale battery reuse and recycling barriers, including fragmented data, low transparency of battery quality and complex transaction processes between market actors. This project is developed by Minespider within the Recirculate project, funded under the Horizon Europe project.
By establishing a shared digital infrastructure, the platform supports improved coordination and data exchange between battery owners, recyclers, second-life operators, OEMs and service providers such as logistics, testing, diagnostics and repair companies.
The marketplace functions as a digital infrastructure enabling:
the listing and trading of second-life batteries supported by verified technical and lifecycle data;
sourcing of recycled battery materials and components;
offering and requesting specialized services including testing, diagnostics, logistics, dismantling, refurbishment and certification;
access to supporting services such as testing, diagnostics, logistics and certification; and
networking environment for battery manufacturers, OEMs, recyclers and service providers.
The marketplace will be integrated with digital battery passports (DBPs) and digital product passports (DPPs), enabling access to information on battery origin, chemistry, performance history and sustainability indicators. Minespider says this approach supports improved market transparency and risk reduction and aligns with the EU Battery Regulation as well as the Ecodesign for sustainable products regulation.
Minespider says the goal of the marketplace is to increase trust and efficiency in battery supply chain processes and decrease time and costs.
The marketplace allows users to register on the platform, publish product and service listings and connect directly with potential buyers and partners. The platform will be further developed in line with industry feedback, regulatory requirements and sustainability standards.
“With Recircle.market, we are building the digital backbone for Europe’s circular battery economy—connecting data, materials and market actors in one interoperable ecosystem,” says Volker Krümpel, Minespider co-founder and general counsel. “This MVP is a first step towards scalable and trusted battery reuse and recycling markets.”
