Midpoint International Inc., Aurora, Ontario, has opened a new U.S. operation called CleanRiver USA. Midpoint, which has been in operation for 20 years, supports the recycling initiatives and environmental stewardship efforts of schools and colleges, fast food restaurants, hospitality businesses, governments, military installations and healthcare and office facilities.
The company has named Cliff Harris as business development manager to run the division.
"The opening of CleanRiver USA Inc. and the appointment of Cliff Harris demonstrate our desire to expand our support and commitment to our U.S. clients," says Bruce Buchan, the founder and CEO of CleanRiver Recycling Solutions, a Division of Midpoint International.
Harris has more than 20 years of national account management and business development experience in the recycling and waste management industry. His responsibilities will include strengthening CleanRiver's business-to-business recycling program services. "Cliff's expertise is assisting organizations with planning and implementing effective recycling and waste reduction programs," says Dave Jarrett, CleanRiver president.
Harris will be based in the Chicago area. "Recycling has lagged in the U.S. due to a variety of factors, including containers that don't effectively separate and sort recyclables from trash. We're changing that with a unique approach that helps our customers be better environmental stewards while achieving a financial return on waste that used to go to the landfill," Jarrett says.
