Midland Davis Corp. has acquired Pekin Recycling, a paper and scrap metal recycling company located in central Illinois. The company will keep its location and employees.
Midland Davis, based in Moline, Ill., also has a brokerage office in St. Luis. The company has been recycling paper, ferrous and non-ferrous metals for about 113 years.
Earlier this year Midland Davis acquired I. Erlichman & Sons, a Peoria, Ill.-based recycling operation.
According to Joel Erlichman, general manager of Midland Davis – Peoria, the company will look to strengthen Pekin’s document destruction business, including having the plant NAID certified. The newly acquired facility has an in-plant shredding operation that is secure. “We are planning on pushing the document destruction business at the new plant,” Erlichman says.
The new facility is roughly 15 miles away from the Erlichman facility. Midland Davis will be looking for other ways to boost the operations of all three processing facilities.
Midland Davis also is eyeing other potential acquisition targets in the area.
Pekin Recycling, with around 10 employees, is expected to have its name changed to Midland Davis.
