The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality has announced $587,000 in grants to fund community scrap tire drop-off events and other tire cleanup efforts across the state.
The cleanup programs seek to provide affordable, convenient tire recycling opportunities to residents. The collection events will be held during the spring and summer.
Additionally, grant money has been awarded to remove old tires at four private properties. Other grants will be used to create yearlong collection sites and roadside pickups.
