Funding for Tire Cleanups Awarded

Michigan DNRE awards close to $1 million in grants to 23 scrap tire sites.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Environment (DNRE) has announced that $967,152 in grants have been awarded for the complete cleanup of 23 scrap tire sites. The projects will remove more than 960,000 passenger tire equivalents (PTEs).

 

The grantees have until Aug. 31, 2010, to complete contract requirements for having the tires removed and processed in accordance with a DNRE-approved tire removal plan.
