Michigan City Starts Collecting Polystyrene

The Grayling Township, Mich., township recently introduced polystyrene as a recyclable material to be collected at its transfer station.

Material collected must be free of food and other materials before it can be collected and recycled. The transfer station is the only site in the township accepting polystyrene for recycling at this time.

Once a required amount is collected, the polystyrene will be sent to Dart Container in Mason, Mich., where it will be ground up to make new products. Dart Container has four facilities in the United States that take in polystyrene for recycling purposes.
