Michigan Chamber of Commerce Promoting Recycling

The Michigan Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors recently voted in favor of a position statement urging policymakers to consider comprehensive recycling solutions focused on keeping Michigan beautiful.

"The Michigan Chamber of Commerce supports policy initiatives encouraging the good stewardship of Michigan's environment and natural resources, including conservation, recycling, litter control, and solid waste management," said Jim Barrett, Michigan Chamber president & CEO. "These policy initiatives should be based upon sound science, with a supporting cost/benefit analysis."

"The Michigan Chamber encourages the development of a comprehensive statewide strategy of recycling and litter control measures," said Kevin Korpi, director of Environmental & Regulatory Affairs for the Michigan Chamber. "This strategy might include education programs, curbside recycling, redemption centers, roadside litter control, and recreational and park recycling programs that could achieve cost-effective results."

The Michigan Chamber is a statewide business organization representing approximately 7,000 employers, trade associations and local chambers of Commerce. The Michigan Chamber was established in 1959 to be an advocate for Michigan's job providers in the legislative, political and legal process.
