Tire manufacturer Michelin, with North American headquarters in Greenville, South Carolina, has introduced its newest compact-line tire at the ARA Rental Show in Orlando. Michelin describes the Power Digger as “a bias tire designed for wheeled excavators with a dual fitment for both original equipment and replacement applications.”
“With 80 percent of wheeled excavators in the market operating with a dual configuration, the Power Digger provides a superior solution for construction performance,” says Justin L. Brock, North America compact line business manager for Michelin Agriculture tires. “To offer true market value, the tires that support this equipment must have resistance to everyday site impacts — the Power Digger offers this and more.”
Designed for construction applications, the 10.00-20 Power Digger tire offers bias construction, thicker sidewalls and a directional-lug design for what Michelin describes as “excellent stability.” The tire is structurally designed to allow for more stability in the contact patch area as the machine carries out 360-degree movements on varied surfaces, says the company.
Michelin says among the design features of the Power Digger are:
- robust sidewalls that are thicker and designed to better resist impacts;
- a pronounced center arch of the tire to contain more rubber and to provide excellent wear; and
- the tire also has a higher-load index of 147, which Michelin calls “superior to competitive tires.”
