St. Louis-based Shapiro has announced the promotion of Michael Karr to senior vice president of its Master Alloys division, which offers toll-based production of aluminum remelt scrap ingot and recycled-content aluminum products. The promotion reflects the company’s goal of supporting manufacturers navigating an increasingly complex regulatory and sustainability landscape.

Karr has held multiple leadership roles during his tenure at Shapiro. His work has helped position the company to respond effectively to evolving market demands while maintaining a strong commitment to accountability and sustainable practices.

As senior vice president of Master Alloys, Karr will work cross-functionally to support strategic initiatives that reinforce Shapiro’s long-term focus on delivering measurable value, transparency and innovation for customers across North America. The company says he will help advance initiatives that strengthen customer partnerships, support scalable growth and reinforce Shapiro’s position as a trusted provider of compliant and profitable circular solutions.

“Michael has an innate talent for building the kind of trust-based partnerships that are vital to our Master Alloys Division,” says Shapiro President Bob Alvarez. “Michael will lead efforts to diversify our portfolio and strengthen our presence in the supply chain. His promotion marks a new chapter for our business development team, and we are confident that his vision will continue to deliver immense value to our clients and stakeholders alike.”

The promotion concludes a series of leadership announcements the company has made in early 2026 that it says highlights Shapiro’s commitment to aligning leadership development with strategic priorities as the company focuses on growth, innovation and long-term impact.
