Michael Bros. adds director of recycled materials sales and operations

Michael Bros. Cos., headquartered in Pittsburgh, has added Jordan Fortney as director of recycled materials sales and operations, reinforcing the company’s long-term commitment to advancing recycling and materials recovery across western Pennsylvania.

Fortney joins Michael Bros. with more than 15 years of experience in the recycled materials industry, specializing in metals trading, operations management and end-market development. The company says his career began soon after college when he took a chance on helping build a recycling operation from the ground up, sparking a passion for connecting markets, developing relationships and improving material flow throughout the industry.

In his new role, Fortney will lead sales of recycled materials across all Michael Bros. facilities, with a focus on growing the company’s scrap metal operations and optimizing buying and selling strategies across sites. He will work closely with site operations teams at the company’s Baldwin, Mt. Pleasant, Adamsburg and Reserve Township locations in Pennsylvania to streamline metal recovery, strengthen end-market partnerships and increase outbound volumes of ferrous and nonferrous materials.

A former All-American basketball player, Fortney applies the same teamwork and discipline that defined his athletic career to his leadership style in business, Michael Brothers says. He emphasizes humility, accountability and collaboration as core principles, noting that transparency and follow-through are key to building trust with customers and colleagues.

Outside of work, Fortney enjoys spending time with his wife and three children and is known for his early morning workout routine that keeps him energized for the day ahead, according to Michael Brothers.

With Fortney’s leadership, Michael Bros. aims to continue its evolution as a regional leader in recycling and sustainable materials management, bridging the gap between construction and demolition recovery and the metals sector.
