Delta County, Mich., has dropped glass from its recycling program, according to a report from local television station WLUC-TV.
Local media reports say that officials from the county recycling center say that demand is so low that certain types only bring in 5 cents per ton.
The center isn’t bringing in a lot of volume either. Glass makes up only 1 percent of the material collected, according to the report. However, paper accounts for nearly 89 percent and fetches a much higher market price.
