The Spanish paper company SAICA and the equipment company Metso have signed an outsourcing agreement on mill maintenance at Saica Containerboard UK Ltd's paper mill in Partington, U.K.
The multi-year agreement means that Metso will assume full responsibility for establishing maintenance operations, mill maintenance and management of improvement projects for the power stations, stock and paper production facilities, as well as water treatment equipment at the mill.
Metso also will be supplying equipment for the installation of a new containerboard production line at the Partington mill. The line is scheduled to start up in the first quarter of 2012.
The arrangement follows several other SAICA/Metso deals that have been signed over the past seven years, including arrangements at SAICA mills in Spain and France.
SAICA specializes in the production of high performance lightweight corrugated papers from recovered paper and cardboard.
