Finland-based recycling equipment maker Metso Outotec has placed eighth on the Corporate Knights 2021 Global 100 Index of most sustainable companies in the world. Corporate Knights is a Toronto-based media and investment advisory company.
According to Metso Outotec, in addition to ranking eighth overall, the firm has been listed as the top ranking company in its peer category or sector.
Corporate Knights says it analyzed 8,080 companies on environmental, social and governance indicators relative to industry peers using publicly available information.
“We are proud that our sustainability work gets recognition and we are number eight among the Global 100 most sustainable companies,” says Piia Karhu, a Metso Outotec senior vice president. “Our focus is on developing sustainable products and services to our aggregates, minerals and metals industry customers. We can support our customers with energy and emission efficient and water efficient solutions as well as circular solutions and safety. We are also committed to reducing the CO2 emissions of our own manufacturing, logistics and supply chain.”
Metso Outotec manufactures equipment for the aggregates mining and processing sector, including models used by concrete and asphalt recyclers. The company may be selling or other business units that make metals recycling equipment, and has already sold one that makes smelting equipment.
