Metso offers alloy hammers in North America

Finland-based company says its new generation hammers are ideal for scrap metal processing.

Finland-based Metso Recycling has announced it now offers its new generation alloy hammers for scrap metal processing in North America.

Metso says today’s world of scrap metal processing calls for new ways of enhancing the shredding process while reducing costs and downtime and ensuring highest efficiencies. To respond to this challenge, the company says it has introduced the new generation of alloy shredder hammers, providing the lowest cost-per-ton in the industry.

Metso says the alloy is harder in key areas to help maintain the original shape of the hammer and the hammer pins, providing the hammer a longer life cycle. In addition, by optimizing the hardness with the special heat treatment, Metso says its alloy hammer is gentle on pins but hard on scrap, resulting in a longer hammer pin life.

With Metso alloy hammers, the company says its customers can rely on a shredder hammer that requires less frequent maintenance intervals, delivering the lowest cost per ton at the end of the equipment’s life cycle.

“We are very pleased to introduce our alloy hammer to the North American market,” says Jim Stepanek, head of North America sales, Metso Metal Recycling. “With the Metso alloy hammer, we don’t only provide a high-performing shredder hammer but we provide a high-quality solution to our metal recycling customers from the design phase, through manufacturing, maintenance and availability. Backed up with Metso’s know-how and comprehensive experience, we are helping our customers reducing costs and increasing their profitability.”
