Metso Minerals Expands Manufacturing Operations

Metso Minerals Industries, Inc. expands manufacturing operations into Northeast Ohio.

Metso Minerals Industries, Inc., Brunswick, Ohio has announced plans for a major new expansion of its manufacturing operations in Northeast Ohio.

The new fabrication facility will produce Lindemann scrap metal shears, small shredders and provide a rebuilding service for rotors used in automotive shredders. It will be located in Northeast Ohio near the company’s existing, engineering and manufacturing facility in Brunswick.

The company expects the new facility to be online in the spring of 2008. It will have a total crane capacity of 80 tons and is expected to double the fabrication capacity of Metso Minerals Industries’ Ohio operations.

To support the increased production, the company has added personnel in the automation, mechanical design, electrical design and controls departments, along with control panel building and assembly.

The expansion is part of the company’s ongoing effort to be a leading supplier of precision-engineered equipment, turnkey-systems for North America’s metal recycling industry. The Brunswick operation (formerly BEST, Inc.) was acquired by Metso in March 2007 and, since the beginning of 2008, has increased its fabrication capacity by 100 percent.

“This expansion gives us the platform to continually grow and introduce new and innovative recycling products in the future,” says Tim Conway, Metso Recycling NAM vice president of marketing and business development. “The combined strength of the Texas Shredder, Mueller Engineering, BEST and Lindemann brand names makes Metso Minerals Industries, Inc. the perfect choice for our customers’ recycling needs.”

The existing Brunswick facility produces the complete line of BEST recycling equipment including nonferrous systems, Enviro-Clean dedusting systems, shredder isolation mounts, metering drum feeders, undermill, magnet and ESC feeders, screeners, water injection, innovative shredder controls and BESTView production management software.
