Metso, headquartered in Helsinki, says it has developed a new housing design that is available for almost every Metso Lindemann shredder model. It is intended to cut service downtime and to facilitate maintenance of recycling equipment.
According to Metso, the most significant improvement to its new housing model is the detachable front wall, which provides easier access to wear parts and speeds up replacement of worn components.
With the new design, multiple maintenance operations can be performed at once. For instance, with the detachable front wall lifted out of position using a crane, the rotor can be adjusted and wear plates replaced, for instance, can be handled simultaneously, the company says.
With the purchase of a second Metso front wall set, maintenance downtime in production can be reduced. The whole front wall and its worn parts can be replaced immediately by the second set, and production can be restarted with dispatch. Then the required maintenance for the dismantled set can be completed, and this original system can be installed during the next service break.
The new design is available as a retrofit for existing middle housing, as part of a complete new middle housing and as standard for all new Metso Lindemann machines, Metso says.
