Karl Kaufmann AG, based in Switzerland, has ordered a complete customized shredder plant from Metso. The plant is expected to be delivered and installed by the second half of this year. The hope is that the installation will be complete by October 2010 in concert with Karl Kaufmann’s 150th anniversary of its opening.
Metso's delivery includes a complete, customized shredder plant for shredding light- to medium-heavy mixed scrap, car bodies, new sheet scrap and aluminum scrap. In addition, Metso will deliver a specially designed de-dusting system as well as a plant control system. The new medium-sized plant will produce up to 90,000 tons of ferrous output per year and will contribute to increasing the productivity at the Switzerland-based site.
Peter Wilbert, vice president of Metso’s Shredder, Recycling Business Line, says that the shredder will be a 250 horsepower operation and will include a full system that will be customized to fit the needs of the company.
Karl Kaufmann AG specializes in the processing of ferrous and nonferrous metals, electrical and electronic scrap, paper and cardboard as well as in demolition works.
