People Against Dirty, the makers of San Francisco-based Method cleaning products, is the latest brand to join the How2Recycle Label program. Method customers will soon see the label, which provides guidance for recycling packaging, on a new standup pouch that is recyclable at store drop-off locations.
The new line of Method dishwasher detergent packs will use Amcor Flexibles monomaterial recyclable pouch solution, which contains 20 percent postconsumer recycled (PCR) plastic and is recyclable at store drop-off locations with other plastic bags, films and wraps.
The How2Recycle Label is a standardized labeling system designed to clearly communicates recycling instructions to the public. How2Recycle is a project of the Sustainable Packaging Coalition (SPC), a membership-based group that brings together business, educational institutions and government agencies to collectively broaden the understanding of packaging sustainability and develop meaningful improvements for packaging solutions.
"We are delighted to help Method reach their sustainability goals through packaging innovation,” says Brian Ingraham, product development manager for Amcor Flexibles North America. “The PCR recyclable pouch is a great example of sustainability-driven collaboration that adds value to the Method brand, the consumers and the environment as a whole."
“People Against Dirty further propels its sustainability initiatives by joining How2Recycle,” says Caroline Cox, project associate for the Charlottesville, Virginia-based SPC. “Their consumers will now be empowered to know exactly how to properly prepare their packaging for recycling just by looking at the package.”
