Metech International to Purchase Renewable Energy for Massachusetts Plant

Worcester, Mass., plant to run entirely on renewable energy.

Electronics recycler Metech International, based in Worcester, Mass., has announced that is has entered into an agreement to purchase renewable energy for its Worcester recycling facility. According to a press release from the company, this purchase will replace 100 percent of the electricity previously procured through the standard agreement offered by the public utility.

 

The plant is obtaining its renewable energy through a service contract with Secure Energy Solutions of Springfield, Mass. Constellation NewEnergy is supplying the power. Under Constellation’s NewMix Premium – Load Following product, Green-e certified renewable energy certificates are sourced from solar and/or wind renewable resources located within the United States. The NewMix product is certified by the nonprofit Center for Resource Solutions under its Green-e Program. “The use of renewable energy further extends Metech International’s Accountable Resource Management program to include the conservation of our limited natural resources,” the company states.

 

Metech International, which provides asset reuse and precious metal recovery services, specializes in reuse of industrial manufacturing scrap, obsolete inventory and end-of-life electronics. Metech serves customers in the automotive, electrical and electronic, jewelry and metal processing industries and offers computer and cell phone recycling programs for disposal of consumer electronics.
