Metech International, Gilroy, Calif., has announced its support of the Basel Action Network’s (BAN’s) recently announced e-Stewards program.
BAN, Seattle, has designated Metech as an e-Stewards Founder, which is an organization that has supported the creation of BAN’s e-waste recycling certification program, and the company is currently being qualified as an e-Steward Recycler.
Metech has long promoted its Accountable Resource Management (ARM) protocols, which the company says assures its customers of complete product and environmental stewardship through step-by-step tracking and accountability for all materials handled. Support of and a commitment to upholding the e-Steward Pledge and coming certification reinforces this commitment, according to Metech.
As one of the first North American e-waste recyclers to be ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified, as well as an IAER Certified Electronic Recycler, Metech says it sees its endorsement of and participation in the e-Stewards program as the natural next step in providing its customers with the added assurance that their materials are handled, recycled, and disposed of in a legal and environmentally friendly manner.
Sam Advani, president and CEO of Metech, says, “Based upon Metech’s commitment to proper recycling, protection of the environment and conservation of the Earth’s resources, it is only natural that we support BAN’s efforts. We are thrilled to be an e-Stewards founder and will continue to our commitment to the environment as an e-Steward recycler.”
Metech International recycles end-of-life electronics, industrial manufacturing scrap and excess and obsolete inventory at its facilities in California, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Colorado, Utah and Nebraska. The company offers mail-in computer and cell phone recycling programs for consumers through its www.recycleapc.com Web site.
