Fort Wayne, Indiana-based MetalX has made two strategic leadership appointments designed to strengthen its executive team and support the company’s ongoing growth and vision.
Stan Gish will transition into the role of CEO. Gish joined MetalX in late 2024 as president and chief operating officer (COO) of MMX Aluminum, the company’s aluminum slab production facility being built in Defiance, Ohio.
Before joining MetalX, he spent over 30 years in various technical and operational roles at Logan Aluminum and Tri-Arrows Aluminum. Using his strong track record of leadership and strategic insight, Gish will guide MetalX’s long-term growth, market development and industry positioning, according to the company.
Doug Forbes has been appointed COO. He is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations and ensuring MetalX maintains operational efficiency and continues growing its production capacity.
Forbes also will ensure alignment across all the company’s business units. He previously served as the company’s executive vice president of operations.
Neal Rifkin, who co-founded the company in 2012 with his late father, Danny Rifkin, will maintain his role as president.
“These leadership changes mark a pivotal moment in our journey,” Neal Rifkin says. “We are building on a legacy that my dad and I started together, and I know he would be proud of where we are headed. With the right people in the right roles, we’re well-positioned to continue growing and delivering value for our partners, our team and the communities we serve.”

An elevated cab is one of several features improving operational efficiency at the Macon County Solid Waste Management agency in North Carolina. When it comes to waste management, efficiency, safety and reliability are priorities driving decisions from day one, according to staff members of the Macon County Solid Waste Management Department in western North Carolina. The agency operates a recycling plant in a facility originally designed to bale incoming materials. More recently, the building has undergone significant transformations centered around one machine: a SENNEBOGEN telehandler (telescopic handler).
MetalX is engaged in nonferrous scrap processing, consulting and management services and the application of new technologies for aluminum and copper recycling.
