Metallus, a Canton, Ohio-based recycled steelmaker, and United Steelworkers (USW) Local 1123 reportedly have reached a new tentative agreement for a four-year contract.
The announcement was made after an initial tentative agreement went unratified by USW members in late October. The date of the second vote has not been set and will be announced by the USW, according to Metallus, which operates an electric arc furnace (EAF) mill in Canton.
"We are pleased to have reached a new tentative agreement that reflects our shared commitment to competitive wages, solid benefits and a safe working environment," Metallus CEO Mike Williams says.
"We believe this is a fair and equitable agreement and appreciate the good-faith efforts by all involved to continue this process and work toward an agreement that supports our employees, ensures job continuity and reinforces Metallus' long-term success and growth objectives."
The current agreement has been extended until Jan. 29, 2026, and covers approximately 1,200 bargaining employees at the Metallus production complex in Canton.
