Canton, Ohio-based Metallus, a recycled-content steel producer, and United Steelworkers (USW) union Local 1123 say they have reached a new tentative agreement for a four-year contract.

The announcement has been made after an initial tentative agreement went unratified by USW members in late October. The date of the second vote has not yet been set and will be announced by the USW, says Metallus, which operates an electric arc furnace (EAF) mill in Canton.

"We are pleased to have reached a new tentative agreement that reflects our shared commitment to competitive wages, solid benefits and a safe working environment," says Mike Williams, CEO of Metallus.

"We believe this is a fair and equitable agreement and appreciate the good-faith efforts by all involved to continue this process and work toward an agreement that supports our employees, ensures job continuity and reinforces Metallus' long-term success and growth objectives,” adds Williams.

Metallus says the current agreement has been extended until Jan. 29, 2026, and covers approximately 1,200 bargaining employees at the company's Canton, Ohio, production complex.
