Metallix Refining, a Shrewsbury, New Jersey-based precious metals recycler, has launched the APR4 Advanced Pyrolytic Reduction furnace, which it says builds on the success of the APR3 furnace.
Developed by Metallix processing engineers and technical specialists, APR3 and APR4 feature two oxygen-starved, continuously fed furnaces that thermally decompose materials in a controlled environment using indirect heat to recover precious metals.
“At Metallix, innovation is our driving force,” Metallix CEO Maria Piastre says. “The APR4 is designed to process an unprecedented range of precious metal-bearing materials—gold, silver, platinum, palladium, rhodium and iridium—from even the most complex and challenging waste streams. APR3 and APR4 are purpose-built innovations designed for the future of recycling.”
According to Metallix, APR4 reduces the need for manual intervention, minimizing exposure to hazardous materials and enhancing operational safety through automation. Proprietary sensors and real-time data analytics enable performance monitoring and optimization as well.
“APR4 represents a major step forward in the responsible recovery of precious metals,” Piastre says. “By leveraging our proprietary technology, we are expanding our processing capacity while actively reducing our environmental footprint. This innovation benefits not only Metallix, but also our suppliers and the entire industry.”
