Merritt Plastics Opens Window Frame Recycling Plant in UK

Eurocell, through its Merritt Plastics  subsidiary, has officially opened a new PVC (polyvinyl chloride) window recycling facility in Derbyshire, U.K. The company says when fully operational the facility will be able to process as many as 12,000 PVC window frames per week, making it the largest recycling facility for PVC frames in the United Kingdom.
 

Eurocell is a subsidiary of the Belgium-based chemical manufacturer Tessenderlo Group. 
 

Albert Vasseur, Tessenderlo Group’s director of plastics converting, says, “This investment is another illustration of Tessenderlo Group’s focus on a sustainable business model, where we act as a service provider and turn waste or by-products into high-value products. At Eurocell, we are offering a double environmental benefit by recycling PVC and manufacturing more energy efficient products.”

 

The recycled PVC will be used to manufacture products such as thermal inserts and cavity closers used in window systems.
