Mercury Recycling Looks to Grow

European specialty recycler aims to grow its operation.

Mercury Recycling Group PLC said it is considering expansion by appropriate mergers or acquisitions and is already investigating opportunities.

The group was formed last May when Argon Group PLC acquired Mercury Recycling Ltd and changed its name to Mercury Recycling Group PLC.

In its statement, the company said: "Recycling (of mercury-bearing waste) remains the core of our business activity ... our list of clients is growing every month."

It said the industry is awaiting the implementation of the Directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment, adding that Michael Meacher, the Minister for the Environment, was in a recent speech optimistic about implementation of the directive in the near future.  AFX
