MBA Polymers UK Ltd., a subsidiary of MBA Polymers, Richmond, Calif., has scheduled a Grand Opening ceremony for its new recycling facility on Friday, Oct. 1, 2010.
The company describes the plant in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom, as “a state-of-the-art advanced plastics recycling facility.”
MBA has been working along with European Metal Recycling Ltd. (EMR), one of the world’s largest scrap metal companies, to design and build the facility in Worksop.
A news release issued in 2009 by MBA Polymers, when Worksop was chosen as the site for the plant, said the plant is expected to process up to 80,000 metric tons per year of “shredder residue upgraded by EMR from its U.K. operations using MBA’s proprietary process to recover and separate and purify high-value plastics from this complex feed-stream.”
The goal of the plant’s designers is to produce “high-quality plastic that can be re-used in automotive and other durable goods applications.”
