MBA Polymers UK, Nottinghamshire, U.K., as acquired the Dover, U.K.-based automotive plastics recycler PPR Wipag. The acquired company specializes in processing postindustrial plastics from the automotive industry.
MBA Polymers UK, a part of EMR’s plastics division, specializes in processing postconsumer plastics from auto shredder fluff and waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) residuals.
In a statement announcing the acquisition, MBA Polymers says it is part of its long-term growth strategy to increase its product portfolio and provide a “complete closed loop offering.”
PPR Wipag will become MBA’s postindustrial arm, and the company will explore recycling new products.
Paul Mayhew, general manager, MBA Polymers UK, says, “We are incredibly excited to have acquired PPR Wipag. The acquisition allows us to provide closed loop solutions to existing customers while also increasing our product portfolio of high-quality recycled polymer.
“As a member of the EMR Group, MBA will be able to leverage the existing group infrastructure and provide a total plastic waste management solution to the automotive and injection molding sectors.”
As part of the acquisition, Jonathan Weston, managing director of PPP Wipag, will join MBA Polymers UK’s management team as its postindustrial products manager.
Weston says, “Over the last few years, we have formed a close relationship with MBA Polymers UK, so I am extremely proud and excited that PPR WIPAG will now become part of that company.
“The merger will bring benefits and new opportunities and is the ideal solution for the evolution of our business,” he continues. “We are now in the position to offer a true ‘cradle to grave’ recycling solution to the Automotive Industry in the UK & beyond.”
