The Brussels-based association says 148.8 million metric tons of crude steel were produced this past May compared with 163 million metric tons last May. However, Worldsteel adds that because of the ongoing difficulties presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, many of May’s figures are estimates that may be revised with next month’s production update.
