Massachusetts Town Signs Deal with Recycling Company

Casella Waste Systems has announced that it will provide the town of Rochester, Mass., with recycling pickup in exchange for an expansion of its transfer station in the town, according to a report in the Standard-Times (Bedford, Mass.).

Under the new agreement, residents will be provided incentives to recycle and the town will receive $3.03 per ton of material that moves through it, according to the report.

Currently, Casella’s transfer station only takes construction and demolition materials, and Rochester receives no incentives from the company. An expansion of the transfer station will allow it to take household garbage as well, and Rochester will get incentives.

The town will continue its contract with ABC Disposal for regular trash pickup.
