Mars Mineral, a Mars, Pennsylvania-based manufacturer of agitation agglomeration pelletizing equipment, has announced it has hired Rob Czukor, president and founder of Tire Recycling Consultants (TRC) LLC, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, as a business development consultant to the North American recovered carbon black (rCB) market.
In this capacity, Czukor will speak to scrap tire processors throughout the U.S. and Canada about using Mars Mineral’s equipment and systems to convert carbon black powder recovered from the pyrolysis of scrap tires into pellets for easier handling, packaging and transport.
“Rob’s success in diverting the flow of scrap tires from incineration and landfill disposal to recycling and reuse gives him the ability to help used tire processors make informed decisions about waste handling,” says Craig Vaughan, general manager of Mars Mineral. “With the growing emphasis on environmental sustainability and the rising demand for rCB in a variety of products, such as rubber, plastics, inks and caulking, there is a new, exciting opportunity for companies to use our enabling technology to turn what is now a waste material into a value-added product and profits.”
RCB is useful as a tinting agent, strength additive and UV protectant. It is also an economical pigment for aerospace, appliance, automotive, electronics, furniture, industrial, marine, packaging film, and pipe coating applications.
Products that incorporate rCB include:
- asphalt additives;
- automotive components;
- computer and mobile phone casings;
- green tires;
- paints; and
- printing inks and toners.
