Germany-based Lindemann Metal Recycling has appointed Markus Tandel as head of procurement and aftermarket.
Tandel began his career in the heating machinery industry, where he worked in purchasing, the company says in the news release announcing his appointment. His international experience includes two years in Slovakia, followed by stints in Germany and the U.K., overseeing business development in the U.K., France, Netherlands and Belgium.
He continued his career at French multinational Saint-Gobain, where he specialized in strategic sales projects, customer segmentation and performance metrics across Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In 2020, Tandel joined Saurer, a textile machinery supplier, where he worked in after-sales and service, further honing his commercial skills before joining Lindemann.
“There are two critical aspects to succeeding in the aftermarket sector,” Tandel says. “First, having a value-oriented and market-driven pricing strategy. Second, proactively engaging with our customers, offering not just products but comprehensive solutions such as bundles, retrofits and modernization packages.”
In overseeing the procurement and aftermarket functions, his responsibilities include technical service, field service, service center operations, order management, procurement, warehousing and inventory planning.
“Markus’ dual experience in both procurement and service makes him well qualified to bridge these crucial areas, driving cost efficiencies and enhancing market competitiveness," Lindemann CEO Carl Gustaf Göransson says.
On the procurement side, Tandel emphasizes the need for a cost-driven approach.
“We need to rethink our sourcing strategy and vendor management, not just for capital equipment but also for parts," he says. "By optimizing procurement costs, we can enhance our competitiveness in aftermarket sales.”
