Market research firm publishes paper packaging report

Transparency Market Research offers analysis of the global paper packaging materials market.

Albany, New York-based Transparency Market Research (TMR) has released a new research report, “Paper Packaging Materials Market - Global Industry Analysis, Size, Share, Growth, Trends and Forecast, 2013 - 2019,” providing a comprehensive analysis of the global paper packaging materials market.

According to TMR analysts, the global market for paper packaging stood at US$254.80 billion in 2012 and is growing at a rate of around 4 percent from 2013 to 2019. The value is estimated to reach US$344.43 billion by 2019. In 2012, the overall demand for paper packaging stood at 181.48 billion tons (in terms of volume), TMR says.

TMR finds that paper is the largest material type in the packaging market. Furthermore, bans on the usage of lightweight plastic bags and rising awareness of ecological issues are expected to boost the demand for paper packaging and paper packaging materials.

Critical factors such as volatility in raw material prices, energy costs and the global economic slowdown have had an enormous impact on the global packaging market in the past few years, TMR says. To overcome this, more companies have been aiming to develop sustainable and eco-friendly packaging materials that can be used in place of plastic or metal.

TMR says its report provides further information on these findings and on a range of product segments, including liquid packaging cartons, corrugated cases, cartons and folding boxes.
