Transparency Market Research (TMR), based in Albany, New York, says the increased use of electronics will lead to a 23 percent compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in the global electronics recycling industry between 2013 and 2019.
The market research firm says the finding is part of its recently released study on the global electronics market, conducted in partnership with the United Nations.
Among the findings are that the global electronic recycling market in 2012 was valued at around $10 billion and that by 2017 about 65 million tons of electronic waste likely will be generated.
These and other findings are discussed in the report titled, “Electronic Recycling Market - Global Industry Analysis, Size, Share, Growth, Trends and Forecast 2013 – 2019.”
According to the TMR report, the key drivers of the global electronics recycling market over the next four to five years will be a boost in technological investments, the enforcement of strict recycling rules and heightened awareness about the disposal of obsolete electronics.
