Maren Engineering, based in South Holland, Illinois, has announced the release of the ProPak 2R330 high-production two-ram baler, which the company says can process a wide variety of recyclables.
“This machine is a monster,” says Maren President Todd Wondrow. “It weighs in at more than 80,000 pounds, and it’s not just about the weight, we’ve put the steel in the right places to ensure long life and trouble-free operation.”
Wondrow continues, “The 2R330 gives the recycling community a new reason to look at Maren. This machine is ideal for scrap metal applications, MRFs (material recovery facilities) and any high-production recycling application. The Smart Bale intelligent baler control system provides superior operating flexibility, efficiency and new-age connectivity through our mobile interface. We have invested heavily in hydraulics, fabrication and technology to make this not only a powerful, strong and reliable baler but also a smart machine that can be safely controlled from a smartphone.”
According to Maren, the “wide-box machine” features:
- a 57-inch-wide-by-80-inch-long feed opening suitable for postindustrial cardboard and scrap metals;
- the Smart Bale mobile remote interface, which increases communication between the loader operator and the baler during run time, allowing the mobile equipment operator to monitor production statistics and alert messages, clear jams, initiate material changeover, and select new material from a drop down menu that automatically configures the baler for continued production;
- an extended stroke after shear to reduce shear jams on tough-to-shear materials, increasing efficiency when baling aluminum cans and polyethylene terephthalate (PET);
- 80-, 100- and 120-horsepower configurations;
- a 10-inch main-ram cylinder with 330,000 pounds of platen force to deliver up to 40 percent more force than competitive balers using 10-inch cylinders;
- a hydraulic system with piston pumps that are rated for 6,000 psi continuous duty but that run at only 4,200 psi, ensuring less stress and long life, and that allows the baler to run faster and more efficiently while being more serviceable; and
- an automatically adjustable bale eject opening to allow up to 13-inch oversize bales to eject without operator intervention.
