The Maine Resource Recovery Association (MRRA) will soon host its 11th Annual Maine Recycling & Solid Waste Conference & Recyclathon, scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, April 5 and 6 at the Samoset Resort in Rockport, Maine.
The conference will include several educational sessions, including a keynote address from Brian Taylor, editor of Recycling Today magazine. The keynote session takes place as part of a luncheon on Mon., April 5.
Other sessions include a panel discussion on demolition debris and bulky wastes on the morning of April 5; a recyclable commodities markets panel on the afternoon of April 5; sessions on composting and innovative recycling end markets on Tuesday morning, April 6; and facility tours and a virtual tour of what government inspectors should and should not see when they visit a landfill or MRF will be offered on Tuesday afternoon, April 6.
The Conference will also feature training and certification courses for equipment and plant operators as well as the Recyclathon contest, where forklift and skid steer loader operators compete for prizes.
Networking events include the Annual MRRA Awards Dinner on Monday evening and a scheduled appearance by Maine Governor John Baldacci to present The Governor’s Award for Waste Reduction.
