Two amendments to a Maine bill that could ban the burning of out-of-state construction and demolition debris have been presented to the state Legislature’s Committee on Natural Resources, according to a report in the Morning Sentinel (Augusta, Maine).
One amendment would allow the burning of C&D debris from any state as long as that debris does not exceed 50 percent of total material incinerated. The second amendment would place a moratorium on burning C&D debris until January 2008.
According to the report, Maine is the only state in New England that allows C&D material to be burned for electricity.
