Lubo Announces TiTech Placements

Lubo places 20 TiTech sorting units.

Lubo USA, Stamford, Conn., has announced the placement of numerous TiTech VisionSort optical sorting equipment. The company began importing the units in the spring of 2004 and serves as the sole North American distributor.

Nearly 1,200 TiTech units have been installed at material recovery facilities, enabling the automated separation of recyclables. The units analyze the input stream using a scanning sensor that is installed above a conveyor belt. The sensor identifies materials, shapes, textures and colors as well as the object position, according to Lubo USA

Among the recent TiTech installations in the United States are:

  • Waste Management Recycle America has purchased six TiTech PolySort units for its plants in Raleigh, Va.; Spiegel, Mass.; Elkridge, Md.; Chicago; and Liverpool, N.Y.
  • Colgate Paper Stock, New Brunswick, N.J., has purchased three TiTech units—a a TiTech PaperSort CN, and two TiTech PolySorts—to sort commingled recyclables at its plant.
  • TFC Recycling is building “the most automated single-stream facility in the country,” according to Lubo USA, with seven TiTech optical sorters for final paper cleanup and other tasks, such as fiber removal from containers and automatic container sorting.
  • Allied/BFI has purchased two TiTech PolySorts for its Brockton, Mass., plant.
  • Schupan Recycling has purchased a TiTech ColourSort for its Kalamazoo, Mich., location. Once installed, Lubo USA says the ColourSort will allow the company to produce with high-purity rates for further recycling.
  • Sunset Waste will be installing a TiTech PaperSort CN later this year at its Fresno location.
