EverythingLubbock.com, a news website for Lubbock, Texas, reports a new recycler has opened in Lubbock and begun providing curbside recycling collection services for residents.
“There was a really big need for this here in Lubbock because no one was really recycling,” Nick Nowicki, cofounder of Good Earth Recycling, told the news site. “The main thing I want people to realize is that recycling doesn’t have to be hard.”
Subscribers to Good Earth Recycling have their recyclables collected at their curbsides. The recyclables are then taken to the Texas Tech University Recycling Center for sorting. The money the university makes from the sale of recyclables is applied toward student scholarships. Monthly pickup is available at $40, the article says.
“I believe a lot of people really do care and that a lot of people do want to make the impact, but they may not have the time,” Nowicki added. “They may not want to go through and sort all their recyclables, so that’s why we try to make that very convenient for people to help them recycle and make that impact without having to interrupt their daily lives.”
The company has also implemented a program to clean up local parks.
