LS-Nikko Opens U.S. Branch Office

LS-Nikko Copper Inc., a subsidiary of South Korea-based LS Group, has opened a scrap purchasing office in Irvine, Calif.

According to Ryan Cha, the new location’s marketing manager, LS-Nikko is seeking to purchase copper scrap, copper residue, electronic scrap and scrap lead batteries “to source recycling materials and supply them to our smelter in Korea.”

Cha also says LS-Nikko Copper Inc. (USA) will be working in “collaboration with ERI Co. in electronic recycling,” referring to a 2009 earlier agreement LS-Nikko made with Fresno, Calif.-based Electronic Recyclers International. 
 
“We have a very good business partnership with ERI in the electronics recycling sector in the U.S. market,” says Cha. “This branch office is the next step for our recycling business. We’re certainly continuing to cooperate with ERI to expand market share [and] at the same time we will vary the types of materials and increase the procurement volume of scrap materials for our Korean facilities.”
 
Cha indicates that the Irvine office LS-Nikko Copper Inc. (USA) also will be looking south toward Latin America. “We will create more business opportunities in the U.S. as well as in countries in Central and South America,” he comments.
