The London Metal Exchange (LME) will host the 2025 edition of its LME Asia Metals Seminar May 21 in Hong Kong, the headquarters city of LME parent company the Hong Kong Exchange (HKEX).
The exchange refers to the meeting as “the premier metals industry event in Asia" that will bring together the global industrial and investor communities to discuss the key issues shaping the future of the sector.
This year’s agenda will feature speakers and panelists from around the world who will contribute to a day of “industry insights, in-depth discussion and incisive debate.”
LME CEO Matthew Chamberlain and HKEX CEO Bonnie Y. Chan will offer welcome addresses.
Topics include a debate on navigating the “new normal” for metals markets, where panelists will discuss how “the evolving geopolitical landscape, regionalized supply chains and the energy transition are reshaping metal markets.”
Also on the agenda is sustainability financing and its role in metals markets and identifying growth opportunities in a "volatile” ferrous scrap and steel trading environment.
“Many factors have fueled price volatility in global ferrous markets in recent years,” the LME says, noting its panelists will examine how companies can manage and possibly take advantage of volatility.
In the afternoon, the program will focus on physical metals delivery and the role of its warehouse network. The topic could be timely in the wake of the LME announcement that it has secured approval to open warehouses in Hong Kong.
“Whether you’re a seasoned expert or new to the market, the LME Asia Metals Seminar offers invaluable insights and networking opportunities that you won't want to miss,” the exchange says.
