LME to Visit China for Education Tour

Second day added after seminars sold out in two weeks.

The London Metal Exchange (LME) will be on an educational tour of four Chinese cities from 21-30 Nov. 2011.
According to LME, Martin Abbott, LME CEO, will be joined by Liz Milan, LME Asia managing director; and Catherine Markey, head of marketing and education, to provide day-long seminars to Chinese delegates.

The seminars will provide an introduction to the LME, including the function and benefits of hedging to protect against price volatility. Event sponsors, Newedge and Sucden Financial, also will provide presentations about trading on the LME.

“We are pleased to have received such great interest from the Chinese metals market since announcing the seminar series,” Catherine Markey, who will be running the hedging workshops, says. “The trip responds to the growing demand from China to learn about onshore hedging on global exchanges such as the LME.”

The Shanghai seminar sold out two weeks after it was announced and a second day has been arranged to provide for the unexpectedly high demand.
