Germany-based Lindner Washtech GmbH has released the Film Examiner for polyethylene (PE) film recycling applications. The Film Examiner can be placed directly in front of the extrusion phase as a final process to improve product quality, the company says.
According to a news release from Lindner Washtech, the device separates small, hard contamination particles that are difficult to remove using traditional methods within the washing line because of their specific density and size. Contaminants include rigid plastic particles of polypropylene or high-density polyethylene as well as light aluminum particles and small wood flakes.
The Film Examiner can be mounted directly in the air stream after the thermal drying process, using the different flow characteristics between small contamination and the light film flakes to achieve reliable separation. The company says the air flow is adjustable by means of sliding gates in order to optimize the separation process. The contamination separated falls into the collection bin, which can be easily monitored and emptied.
Georg Krenn, technical manager of Lindner Washtech, says improving output quality is a key focus for Lindner’s customers today.
“The Film Examiner, without doubt, provides a compact and inexpensive solution to further improve quality and reduce operational costs supporting our customers’ key goals,” Krenn says. “Retrofitting of existing plants with the Film Examiner is fast, easy and highly cost-effective.”
Lindner Washtech offers a number of other solutions for PE film recycling. According to Lindner, more than 50 of its washing systems are installed worldwide.
