Lindner-Recyclingtech Ships Shredder to German University

The technical center of the laboratory for Waste Management, Water Management and Environmental Chemistry at University of Münster, (LASU) Germany has installed a VEGA S600 shredder from the German manufacturer Lindner-Recyclingtech. The equipment joins existing recycling equipment the university presently has, including conveyor belts, screens and a near-infrared spectrometer.

“Shredding technology is in the focus of many waste treatment plants,” says Professor Sabine Flamme, head of LASU’s technical center. “It is the only way to separate the various composite materials and then recover the valuable components. Another field of interest is to determine the waste quality. The evaluation of mixed and coarse-grained waste requires sample sizes of up to one cubic meter to achieve representative results.”

“With the new shredder provided by Lindner-Recyclingtech GmbH we are able to reduce samples to the required volume for chemical analysis,” says Flamme, who is heading the research.

Manfred Ebmann, Lindner’s sales manager for Germany and the Netherlands, says that he expects “new impetus for the development of our product range.”

The 875 square-meter LASU technical center has been running experiments for R&D projects since 2008 in the waste management center of Münster-Coerde. Some of the R&D involves treating heterogeneous mixtures such as alternative fuels, electrical waste and residues from recovered fiber recycling and also the determination of particle size distributions as well as the determination of the chemical and physical composition of waste.

In most cases customers are waste management companies, processing companies and research ministries. A vibrating screen, mobile drum screen, mobile sliding spark spectrometer, near-infrared spectrometer and various hopper scales are also part of the equipment pool.
