Syracuse, N.Y.-based Lifecyclexpress, a division of CXtec, has been designated as a Certified Electronics RecyclerTM. The company specializes in IT asset management and electronics recycling.
Lifecyclexpress implemented quality and environmental, health and safety (QEH&S) systems that were certified to the Responsible Recycling Practices (R2) Standard and the Recycling Industry Operating Standard (RIOS).
To achieve R2 certification, Lifecyclexpress had to exhibit adherence to legal requirements for electronics recycling as well as implement data destruction procedures and establish a reuse and recovery hierarchy for responsible materials management. The certification also calls for refurbishing and properly testing reusable equipment and components.
RIOS certification calls for an integrated management system that focuses on continual improvements in quality, environmental, health and safety performance.
"Becoming a certified electronics recycler assures customers that they can trust us to handle their e-scrap in a safe, secure and environmentally friendly way," says Peter Belyea, president of CXtec. "It removes the uncertainty organizations have in finding a reliable, responsible e-scrap partner."
Lifecyclexpress says it is one of only 22 companies designated as a Certified Electronics Recycler and the only R2/RIOS facility in New York state that is also ISO 9001:2008 certified.
