Liebherr equips Rimco St. Louis yard

Rimco Inc., a century-old metals recycling company, is using LH 40 material handlers supplied by Newport News, Virginia-based Liebherr USA Co. to help it prepare and move scrap at its flagship yard in St. Louis.

According to Liebherr, Rimco relies on its material handlers to keep its scrap yard running around the clock.

Rimco specializes in commercial, industrial and residential ferrous and nonferrous scrap metal recycling.

Liebherr says it understands the demanding working conditions of a scrap yard, plus the safety requirements. The company says its material handlers’ safety features include a wide range of visibility in the cab, safety guards and numerous assistance systems including on called Tool Control and Stabilization Assistant.

The equipment provider notes is also offers an array of attachments specifically developed for scrap handling to help maximize the efficiency, flexibility and performance of the entire scrap handling process, including orange peel grapples, sorting grapples, hydraulic magnets, stick extensions and quick-change systems.

Rimco Inc. recently expanded its St. Louis scrap yard fleet with the addition of two new Liebherr LH 40 M material handlers. One of the machines is equipped with a grapple to handle large, irregular scrap materials while the other is fitted with a magnet for moving and sorting ferrous scrap.

The LH 40 includes Liebherr’s patented energy recovery system, designed to lower overall fuel consumption, provide more power and create faster work cycles.

Along with Liebherr USA, Rimco worked closely with Liberty, Missouri-based equipment dealer Central Power Systems & Services to find the right machines that meet their requirements.

Liebherr says Rimco has been its loyal customer for many years, adding that the metals recyclers has cited the outstanding reliability, performance, durability and efficiency of its machines.
