The City of Los Angeles has purchased 34 trucks for the its recycling collection fleet to collect larger, single-stream carts that are being used by residents.
The trucks use a “low floor/front drive” configuration made by Marmon-Herrington, Louisville, Ky. The company says the design improves safety and productivity.
Marmon-Herrington is currently in the process of converting the 34 truck chassis to the low floor/front drive configuration. The technology used allows the vehicle’s floor to be positioned at the ideal height for collection applications, down to as low as 14 inches from the ground.
