Kruger Inc. announced plans to invest $100 million for the purchase and installation of a new coated paper machine at its Wayagamack mill, which is 51 percent owned by Kruger. The mill is 49 percent owned by SGF Rexfor.
“The decision to install a new paper machine was made based on market studies carried out since we acquired the mill and the evolution of the market for the types of products currently manufactured,” said Bernard Routhier, executive vice president of Operations for Kruger.
The new machine will produce 200,000 metric tons of lightweight and ultra lightweight coated paper a year. Existing paper machine production will be maintained, bringing the current 134,000 metric tons to 334,000 metric tons of paper produced a year.
