Kragen Auto Parts Partners with RBRC

Auto parts retailer to collect rechargeable batteries for recycling.

Kragen Auto Parts, a subsidiary of CSK Auto Inc., a specialty retailer of automotive parts and accessories, and the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation (RBRC), a nonprofit, public service organization, have announced the rollout of RBRC's rechargeable battery recycling program Call2Recycle in Kragen Auto Parts stores.

As of Feb. 21, RBRC's rechargeable battery drop-off boxes will be in all Kragen Auto Parts stores.

"Our program with Kragen Auto Parts marks the first time we've joined

forces with an auto parts supply retailer," Ralph Millard, RBRC executive vice president, says. "It is wonderful that Kragen has taken the initiative well in advance of California's new recycling legislation, which will go into effect this summer."

Terri Buttler, environmental affairs manager for CSK Auto, says, "It is a good environmental step to take, and we are proud to be a partner in this program. We will monitor the Kragen Auto Parts program closely as we consider rollout of the program to additional regions."

There are approximately 490 Kragen Auto Parts stores in California that will take part in the RBRC program. Additional national retailers that participate in the RBRC program include Best Buy, The Home Depot, Lowe's, Office Depot, RadioShack, Sears, Target, and many more.

A list of participating Kragen Auto Parts stores is available at www.cskauto.com. For other drop off locations, consumers can call toll-free (877) 2-RECYCLE or visit www.call2recycle.org for a list of participating retailers and community collection sites.  The program is free to consumers.
