Pohang Iron & Steel Co., the world's largest steelmaker, is set to shut down a 900,000 ton electric furnace facility by October next year.
POSCO said the shutdown will have an impact of a 5 percent production cut in the domestic market. POSCO is planning to idle one of two operating production electric furnaces in October 2002.
