The Chicago-based Komatsu America Corp. business unit of global machinery provider Komatsu has acquired Phoenix-based Core Machinery that will expand Komatsu's coverage in the southwestern United States.
Komatsu says it has transitioned ownership of six independent Core Machinery dealerships to Komatsu-owned dealers.
The transaction covers three former Core Machinery locations in its home state of Arizona (Phoenix, Prescott and Tucson) three in California (Bakersfield, Mojave and Perris).
The Komatsu news release refers specifically to opportunities in the mining sector, which has a sizable presence in California. Several of the locations also serve medium-to-large metropolitan areas with significant construction, demolition, recycling and solid waste activities.
“We are pleased to welcome the talented Core Machinery team to Komatsu,” says John Ward, a senior vice president with Komatsu. “Together, our unified team will work to expand Komatsu’s product offerings and improve customer access across the newly integrated territories. We look forward to this collaboration and [to] delivering enhanced value to our customers’ operations.”
The sale was finalized June 9 and refers to the six locations as part of an expanded Komatsu-owned dealer territory, which now encompasses Arizona and Southern California.
The equipment provider says its mining-focused facility in Mesa, Arizona, has long supported mining customers, and the acquisition strengthens its ability to serve such businesses.
“This expansion will allow Komatsu to continue serving these valued customers while significantly growing the company’s business in this region," the company adds.
Komatsu is a developer and supplier of technology and equipment for the construction, mining, forklift, industrial and forestry markets, including loaders, material handlers and excavators.
